The spacious
downstairs living area - 120 sq. metres
has a breathtaking view across
the pleasant terrace, shaded by a bower of passion-flowers down the
garden and through to the hills.
Windows run all the way along this side
of the house and all bedroom windows look out to this same landscape. At
one end a large fireplace and at the other, luscious green plants
growing up the wall give character to this light and airy room.
The
living room leads out through French windows to the terrace, which is
well equipped with plenty of garden furniture and a large barbecue. Next
to the reception area there is a good-sized, practical kitchen (15m²)
with a big cooker, dish washer, micro-wave and plenty of kitchen
equipment and utensils. There is also a larder with fridge, a freezer
and generous shelf space. Next to the kitchen is the laundry room with a
washing machine and spare fridge.
Off the main room is a room that once
served as a bar - now converted and equipped with a double bed an en
suite shower room and w.c. In the middle of the house, a small cosy
sitting room area with a lovely fireplace can be used as a sixth
bedroom, as there is a convertible sofa bed to sleep two.
The staircase
leading to the bedrooms is in this room, so the owners have put a screen
in this room to separate the sleeping area. The television is in this
room and there is an adjoining toilet with wash basin.
Upstairs there
are four double bedrooms (15m², 10m², 10.5m², 8.5m²) all with attractive
low wood beamed ceilings, two with a double bed and two with twin beds.
The smallest bedroom, suitable for small children with its single beds,
leads off the third bedroom. The largest of the four has a shower and
wash basin and there is also a large bathroom with a double wash basin,
bath, separate shower and bidet.
There is a separate toilet on this
floor. Perfect for family holidays away from the crowds.
Once upon a time,
an English musician fell for a French girl from Pézenas. Together they
created the 'Poisson Fa'. Nestled among the hills of the Garrigue, two
miles above the small village of Gabian, this very special property
welcomes you to the very essence of the South of France. an unmade
track leads you down 300 metres from the crest of the valley to a farm
and then the house. Care should be taken because sometimes this track
is used by a chicken or the odd sheep.

Ticha and Ray
chose to create a house that is as near to nature as possible. The
atmosphere is decidedly informal and you must not expect to find
precious antiques from La Belle Epoque.
Rather more practical, homely
surroundings you can really relax in and enjoy. If you feel inspired,
there is a piano there for your enjoyment. The downstairs which once
hosted jazz concerts reflects the taste of Ticha, upstairs the rough and
ready, but practical character of Ray is more apparent. The land leading
down from the house is surrounded by hills of the Garrigue. There is an
outdoor pool near the house and the house is let with a spacious private
outside area. Beyond this there are two acres of land leading down to
the bottom of the valley. There you are likely to meet the owner who
sometimes exercises his horses and swims from time to time in the small
lake. Depending on the winter rainfall this can look very appetising or
can masquerade as a mud hole. One summer I saw a large carp staring up
out of the water at me. You will enjoy the peace and quiet of the
beautiful countryside that you will be sharing with birds, squirrels and
rabbits. Your only neighbours are the owners who live at the back of the
property and to the other side of the house, but with no view over the
property, there is a small farm where you can purchase all sorts of
organically grown produce.
